Well actually marijuana and cannabis as you all most probably know are the same thing but we have I brought up this topic? It is quite interesting to see just who uses the word marijuana and who calls it predominanlty cannabis and to test this we are going to use Google news as an indicator.
A simple search for news on the word cannabis brings up all the entries from the UK and a news search for the term marijuana brings up all entries from the USA. So although cannabis has various names each name seems to have a popular use in different countries.
I was just looking at some other marijuana sites I have and cam across a pretty interesting video on cannabis and the has trade in Morocco. Outside of US California this must be the next biggest hub for naturally grown marijuana. This video looks at the cultivation of marijuana and the main production of hash including interactive interviews with local Moroccan marijuana growers.
Its not just your little farm guys producing mj but you also get a nerve gripping insight into what a criminals field of marijuana looks like for enterprise level production of the plant.
I tell you one thing I certainly do remember my trip from the UK to Amsterdam to get an experience of this great city that obviously included smoking some of the best marijuana and hash. My holiday to Amsterdam was so much fun that we booked the trip another two times and had a time of our lives!
This all could change soon as the Dutch government wants to bring in measures that will prevent foreigners from using the famous cannabis cafe shops in an attempt to stop drug tourism.
If the drugs policy (gedoogbeleid) is changed this would effectively stop any non-Dutch visitors from smoking cannabis through members only pass for Dutch locals and the amount of marijuana the shops can buy.
This drugs reform seems to be inline with the changes that the government has made with the reduction of brothel windows in the red light district to clean up the sleazy city into a better tourist destination.
The current turnover from the legal “coffee shop” business is around the £1.6 billion per year and this new policy will definetly have an effect on these traders.
As usual when new laws make certain things illegal for people it opens up new business opportunities for criminals to fill the void and make huge profits. Will the new policy be effective in stopping foreign consumption of marijuana and prevent criminal channels of marijuana distribution appearing?
This could be your last chance to try Amsterdams coffee shop cannabis experience!
Enough respect to Snoop Dogg who is busting hot lyrics in Amsterdam and then shows his appreciation for marijuana by asking for a big cannabis plant to be brought onto stage – “Give me that tree!”
When the marijuana plant is on stage he freestyles his rap lyrics while the crowd join in as backing chorus singers to “Give me that tree”
This video is seriously Sticky Icky – must have been a Cannabis Cup winner, anyone know?
In the past UK news I can remember reading many stories of who regular guys have decided setting up a business selling pot, but Christopher Woodings who is only 27 seems to have topped the lot!
Christopher setup an antiques business, AIO Antiques and through his warehouse premises sold almost £20m worth of fresh Cannabis imported direct from Thailand. This has to go down in my books as being one of the biggest Marijuana Brokers so far, read the full story here.
Do you know of a Marijuana dealer that beats this guys turnover?
If you remember previously we had done a small article based on the Jon Gettman’s 2006 report that showed how marijuana is the number one cash crop in California USA. What about on an international level?
The BBC have highlighted key facts from the UN agencies latest World Drug Report 2009 and these go to show that cannabis is the most grown plants, the most used and most seized in the world!
So although you may have thought that cannabis is commonly used at a local level it is infact predominantly used in USA, Canada and Europe more than Cocaine. These facts probably reflect how easy it is to grow cannabis and because of its low harmful effects on humans compared to Cocaine, Heroin and Opium it is far more accepted and used.

The reason why the government does not want to legalize marijuana is because at the moment they can arrest you for the possession of it and then smoke it themselves. They kill two birds with one stone – uphold the law in the eyes of the public and get loads of free marijuana…….
“Getting drugs in Hounslow is as easy as ringing for a pizza” is the headline from the Hounslow Chronicle news paper that did a coverage on a cannabis user. The user, John, describes his journey back from the 1970’s smoking cannabis at the age of 13 all the way until now where he explains that getting drugs such as marijuana is just so easy.
John although initially a cannabis user became addicted to harder drugs and drink and only when he started his own business as a hairdresser did have have the means to have drug shopping spree’s and even cultivate cannabis in his own house. However this rock ‘n’ roll life style that he had created soon all ended when he had an overdose on cocaine and had to call the ambulance to his house where they found his whole house full of cannabis plants. This landed him an 18 month jail sentence and had to get treated for his addictions.
He now has come forward to discuss his life story with drugs and concludes that in Hounslow it is easy to get hold of drugs such as cannabis as it is to order a pizza and hopes that we all need to become open about such issues to help solve spiralling issues like John had.
John certainly hits the nail on the head by saying that more needs to be talked about and it should not dilute the good qualities that marijuana can bring. Are we seeing some sort of trend here and it all points to the fact the Hounslow is becoming a cannabis capital here in the UK?
As published by the Hounslow Chronicle UK police raided a HUGE marijuana den above a furniture shop in Hounslow High Street with the value of almost £40,000. Police officers said that the cannabis factory had plants growing that had such a potent smell that they could not stay in the premises for long as the effects where too high and they had to take it in turns to complete securing the cannabis plants.
This goes to show that unlike other drugs such as Cocaine or Heroin, marijuana is easy to grow and instead of there being a huge influx of the pot being imported, it is most often grown on home soil.
If you are looking for a very innocent interpretation of why we should legalize marijuana, then there is no one better than Bob Marley to tell you why. To sum it up, its just a plant! Its just a herb!
